History

On April 25, 1962 the 110th Signals Regiment was founded based on the order C.L. no. 0064/1962, under the name of the 110th Radio technical and Signals Regiment, having as basic subunits: the 110th Signals Battalion, the 105th Radio technical Battalion and the 225 Radio Company, being subordinated to the 42 Maritime Division.

On October 25, 1962 the Rear Admiral Sandu Gheorghe, commander of the Navy at that time, handed the Battle Flag to the Regiment based on the decree of the State Council and the order no. 41 of the Armed Forces Minister.

As a sign of recognition of the mode of action during the assigned missions, on May 7, 1977, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the state independence of Romania the Battle Flag was decorated, with the order "TUDOR VLADIMIRESCU" class III, and on May 12, 1987 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, for special merits in raising the country's defence capacity, the Battle Flag was awarded the order "TUDOR VLADIMIRESCU" class II.

According to the Order of the National Defence Minister regarding, "the ending, transformation, redeployment, subordination or foundation of large units, units, subunits and formations from the peace structure of the Romanian Army, during 01.03-31.12.2003", for the fulfillment of “the Framework Plan, regarding the development of the restructuring process of the Romanian Army in the period 01.01 - 31.12.2003" approved by the Decision of the Supreme Council of National Defence no. 001 from 10.02.2003 and according to the "Specifications of the Naval Forces chief Headquarter regarding the development of the restructuring process in the Naval Forces" received, between 01.04-31.05.2003, the 110 Signals Regiment changed the subordination from the Naval Forces Headquarter to the Naval Operational Command.

By order of the Naval Forces Headquarter, on 30.05.2003, the South Garrison Signal Center was founded, which operates inside of the 02146 Military Unit in Mangalia.

In accordance with the Order of National Defense Minister, no. M.S.-31 from 21.02.2003, regarding the "ending, transformation, re-subordination or foundation of large units, units of the peace structure of the Romanian Army", starting with 01.06.2003, the 106 Signals Company changed the subordination from Fleet Command to the 110th Signals Regiment. The modification was made based on Order no. KB. 1244 from 28.05.2003 of the 02150 / B Military Unit.

By the Order of the General Staff, starting with 01.10.2003, the 106 Signals Company consisted of 2 subunits: the Signal Center of the 2nd River Base (Tulcea) and the Signal Center of the Naval Forces Headquarter (Bucharest) (put into operation starting with 19.01.2004).

According to Order no. M.S.-47 / 10.03.2004 of the National Defense Minister regarding, "the ending, transformation, redeployment, re-subordination or foundation of large units, units, subunits and formations from the peace structure of the Romanian Army, during 01.04 - 31.12.2004", for fulfillment of the "Framework Plan, for the continuation of the restructuring and modernization process of the Romanian Army in the period 01.01.-31.12.2004" approved by the Decision of the Supreme Defense Council of the country no. S/ 11 of 21.01.2004 and according to the "Order of the chief of Naval Forces Headquarter no. B.S./237/2004 regarding the restructuring of the 110 Sinals Regiment", the 110 Signals Regiment was transformed into the 110 Signals Battalion.

Starting with April 1,2005 the 110th Signals Battalion took over, according to Order of the General Staff no. B.5/ S-329 from February 07, 2005, the personnel from of Regional Management Center (4G) and Local Transmission and Management Center (4G3) from Constanţa, according to Disp. SMG no. B.5 / S-804 / 30.03.2005, and starting with 01.05.2005, according to Disp. SMG no. B.5 / S-530/2005 received under its subordination another subunit - the Brăila Garrison Transmission Center, which operates in the premises of the River Component of the Naval Operational Command.

The 110th Communications and Informatics Battalion was founded based on the Order of National Defense Minister no. G / 2/1405 from July 10, 2007, subordinated to Fleet Command, from August 01, 2007 by reorganizing the 110th Signals Battalion.

The unit was given the honorary name "Vice Admiral Eng. Grigore Marteş" and spiritual patron "The Holy Great Martyr Dimitrie Izvorâtorul de mir" based on the approval of the National Defense Minister on report no. B-4860 from April 09, 2012.

From the study of the archive documents, the foundation of the 110 Communications and Informatics Center "Vice Admiral Eng. Grigore Marteş" was certified based on the Order of the National Defense Minister no. M. 079 from August 24, 2015 and of the General Staff Order no. G / O-161 from November 03, 2015 subordinated to the Naval Forces Headquarter, from 01.01.2016, by reorganizing the 110th Communications and Informatics Battalion.

Beginning with March 2023, the 110 Communications and Informatics Center "Vice Admiral Eng. Grigore Marteş", has received the Broadcast and Ship Shore (BRASS) and TDL Ship-Shore-Ship Buffer (SSSB) Systems. BRASS system consists of two sub-systems, one under NATO operational control and the second under ROU Navy control. SSSB, co-located with BRASS is operated by ROU Air Forces.

These are just a few landmarks of recent history, landmarks that do not reflect the entire activity and ongoing efforts of the military unit, but can illustrate the uniqueness and specific missions of the unit.

Following the evolution of the Romanian nation, but also the fierce assaults on the battlefields, the transmission units of the Naval Forces, over time, and today the 110 Communications and Informatics Center "Vice Admiral Eng. Grigore Marteş" - The only keeper and successor of the noble heritage of the units of communications and informatics from the Naval Forces, record day by day, mission by mission, tabs of contemporary history, history that is written and that we live.
