Historical overview

The unit was established on February 17th, 1940, in Basarabi. Starting from 1959, the unit received its own designation and went through several stages in its evolution through the establishment of two additional technical territories alongside the existing one. Starting from 2007, following the change of the town's name from Basarabi to Murfatlar, the depot is called Mixed Depot 340 Murfatlar.

The main missions of the unit are: receiving, inspecting, safely storing, and distributing all categories of material goods specific to the Naval Forces; maintaining, preserving, and servicing the equipment stored in the unit's warehouses; participating with forces and resources in supporting the civilian population, limiting and mitigating the effects of disasters in emergency situations.
