Historical overview

The 278th Mixed Sector Slava Cercheza was established on June 18th, 1996. In February 2006, Mixed Depot 278 was reorganized and became Mixed Sector 278, subordinated to Territorial Mixed Depot 326 in Cernavoda. Starting from December 15th, 2008, Mixed Sector 278 became part of the Naval Forces and was subordinated to the Naval Base Headquarters. As a result of the reorganization, from June 1st, 2010, Mixed Sector 278 came under the authority of Mixed Depot 342 within the Logistics Section of the Naval Logistics Base.

The main missions of the unit are: receiving, handling, safely storing, and distributing all categories of goods and materials specific to the Naval Forces; maintaining, preserving, and servicing the equipment stored in the unit's warehouses; participating with forces and resources in supporting the civilian population, limiting, and mitigating the effects of disasters in emergency situations.
