Historical overview


On June 30th, 1980, 329 Supply Battalion was established, with its deployment in Braila garrison. On May 30th, 1995, 329 Supply Battalion changed into 329 Logistics Base and in 2002, it became 329 Logistics Section.

329 Logistics Section undergoes the following missions: maintaining a high level of readiness for transitioning from a state of peace to a state of war by enhancing operational capacity and implementing mobilizationdocuments; timely and complete rhythmic supply of ammunition, weapons, equipment, food, fuel, lubricants, and other materials and services to support units or other forces for replenishing stocks, either in permanent stationing locations or designated supply points in the combat zones; ensuring a permanent high level of operational readiness for the equipment; conducting safe and damage-free transportation of equipment and materials on river and land; providing close protection and defense for transportation of goods, materials, weapons, and ammunition, as well as assigned objectives; carrying out search, rescue, evacuation, and humanitarian missions in exceptional conditions, including responding to catastrophes occurring on the river and adjacent land sectors; participating, as ordered, in the defense of strategically important military and civilian objectives near the river; maintaining continuous operational readiness of equipment by performing repair works on ships and combat equipment within the Floating Workshop for Ship and Combat Equipment Repairs, either in permanent stationing locations or in combat zones; executing towing and salvage operations for ships on the river and on the Danube-Black Sea Canal.

The following ships are within the unit: River Tanker 494, River Tanker 342, Propelled River Barge 418, Propelled River Ferry 457, River Tugboat Rescue Towing Boat 596, Floating Barracks Prut, Floating Workshop 126.
